Dr. Sharon Phillips, Psy.D.
Dr. Sharon Phillips
Dr. Phillips is a licensed psychologist who offers psychotherapy to children, adolescents, young adults, and families.  She also works with a small number of adults individually.  Her areas of specialty include grief/bereavement, behavior management skills, parent training, family therapy, teenage and college issues, depression, anxiety, ADHD, and helping parents determine if their child’s behavior is a “phase” or a more serious concern.   Dr. Phillips is also able to provide Christian-based counseling for those who are interested in this type of faith-based therapy. Dr. Phillips has practiced in the Cincinnati area since 1995.  Dr. Sharon Phillips and Associates was established in 2009 in an effort to serve more families in the area.
Dr. Phillips earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Xavier University and her Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.  She is past president of the Cincinnati Academy of Professional Psychology and is on the Advisory Team for Companions on a Journey, a local organization offering grief support for children, teens, and adults.  In addition, Dr. Phillips also works as a family relations specialist in the area of collaborative law, a process that empowers clients who wish to dissolve their marriage in a peaceful and amicable way, and protects children from the harm of litigation.  More information about this process can be found at www.collaborativelaw.com.   
 
Dr. Phillips has provided numerous workshops to schools, community groups, and churches.  She is a sought-after presenter who brings knowledge, warmth, and humor to her presentations.  She and her husband are the parents of three teenage boys.  In her free time, she enjoys running, camping, and walking their two dogs.

​Sharron has been a licensed independent social worker and supervisor since 1998 and has enjoyed being a part of Dr. Sharon Phillips and Associates since 2010.  Sharron works with adolescents (ages 13 and up) and adults of all ages in individual, group, and couples therapy.  Her specialties include working with those who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual abuse issues, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, chemical dependency, relationship problems, grief, chronic illness, and adjustment issues.   Sharron incorporates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) into her treatment strategies.  Sharron is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.  She has a zest for music and spends her spare time playing drums, guitar, and recording musicians in a studio.

​SHARRON ROCKENFELDER
Jen Russell, licensed professional counselor, is a school counselor for Lakota Local Schools and has been a therapist with Dr. Sharon Phillips and Associates since 2014.  She started her career in 2000, working with children ages 9-10 who were diagnosed with significant behavioral challenges.  Today, she works with children (starting at age 5) and teens (up to age 16) at various developmental levels, conducting small groups and building on each child’s strengths.  Jen uses research-based practices when working in her group format, focusing on children who may display difficulty regulating their emotions, carry the burden of anxiety, or need help in social interactions with peers. 

Jen received her Master’s Degree in Elementary School Counseling from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and graduated with honors from University of Dayton’s Licensure Program as a Professional Counselor.  Her 600 hours of clinical work were completed at Children’s Hospital where she co-facilitated a variety of groups for children and teens.

​Jen is as mother of twins who has a passion for helping children.  In her free time, she enjoys reading and running.
​Eleanor Volk, LISW

​​Eleanor is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who specializes in working with adolescents and adults.  She has provided counseling to individuals and their families since 2006, and has been a part of the team at Dr. Sharon Phillips and Associates since 2013.  With a compassionate approach, Eleanor utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy in working with people to help them build on their ability to change unwanted feelings and/or behaviors.  She has experience with a range of mental health issues including depression, low self-esteem, adolescent issues, social development, anxiety disorders,trauma, grief and loss, and adjustment issues.  Eleanor earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Dayton and her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati. She is native to the Cincinnati area and enjoys time with her husband and being active with their two young children.
Ashley York, LPCC, ATR
​ELEANOR VOLK, LISW
​​Ashley is a Licensed Counselor and Registered Art Therapist. Ashley utilizes art therapy to improve an individual's mental and emotional well-being.  She uses art therapy as a tool to connect, process, and learn.  She has been trained to use art as both a form of therapy as well as an assessment tool.
 
Ashley specializes in early childhood mental health and provides therapy to children and adolescents.  She is also trained in play therapy techniques, PCIT (parent child interaction therapy), motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care.
 
Ashley works from a strength based approach and provides individual and family therapy for symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental and communication disorders.  She also addresses challenging behaviors, relationship struggles, and parenting. She is a strong believer in strengthening families and in building resilience within the family unit.
 
Ashley graduated with her Bachelors in Psychology from Wright State University and her Masters in Counseling and Personnel Services with a concentration in Art Therapy from University of Louisville.  Ashley joined Dr. Sharon and Associates in 2017 after working for over three years in Northern Kentucky as the regional Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist, Grant Manager for the Resilient Children Project, and Co-chair of the Northern Kentucky Strengthening Families Integration Team.
 
In her free time, Ashley makes art and practices calligraphy.  She enjoys taking adventures with her husband and their two dogs.

​Melissa Artnak, Psy.D.  

Melissa Artnak
Dr. Melissa Artnak is a licensed psychologist who specializes in conducting psychological and pediatric neuropsychological evaluations.  Her mission is to help identify areas of strength and difficulty in brain-based skills, and to provide an individualized set of recommendations for each client based on the evaluation findings.

Dr. Artnak has specialty experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, concussions, medical conditions, and emotional-behavioral symptoms.  She especially enjoys identifying the strengths and areas of need for gifted students.  

​Dr. Artnak has been a part of the team at Dr. Sharon Phillips and Associates since January 2015, after completing a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric neuropsychology at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, and a pre-doctoral internship on the pediatric neuropsychology track at The Watson Institute.  She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Loyola University Maryland, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychological and Brain Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. ​Jim Cheshire, D.Min., M.Div., LISW

Dr. Jim Cheshire
Dr. Cheshire is a sensitive and skilled licensed independent social worker who previously served as a pastor for over thirty years.  Dr. Cheshire counsels children, individuals and couples.  He enjoys helping people move towards personal wholeness and more effective relationships. Dr. Cheshire has specialized training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.  He earned the Doctor of Ministry from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida and the Master of Social Work from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania.   Dr. Cheshire joined Dr. Sharon Phillips & Associates in January of 2014. Jim enjoys running and recently completed his third Boston Marathon.  He and his wife Carol have been married for forty-five years.
